Whats Your Favorite Knife Sharpening System

At home I have more equipment and options than I need. In my pack all I carry is an EZ lap diamond rod. It will function if needed, but realistically I don't need to field sharpen often. I tend to lean toward power options, because I can. But fo the money you can't beat DMT. Bench stones. Long lasting and can handle crucible and super steels. Pick any system and get good with it, none of them are magical.

My Go Bag is Just too Damn Heavy.

Depending on where you are, a water filter might trim a bunch of weight. I'm in a very rural area. I can skip a rock and hit 3 different water sources. Urban or arid regions I would carry water though.

Canning for long term food storage.

Tatter or Tattler, something like that makes reusable lids. I haven't tried any yet, but from what I've heard they are good.

    Anyone into paracord?

I have plenty of paracord, but nothing pretty or cool. It's strictly utilitarian for me, just a nice small diameter piece of rope. I did just learn the midshipmans knot last week. A fantastic knot for adjusting length or tension easily. Not exactly what you were looking for, but it's all I got.

To go or stay put ?

About the only thing that I can think of that would push me out is wildfires. I live in a rural, fairly remote location. I'd sure prefer to stay, if I had a choice. Not that it really works that way though.

Possible bugs I've seen so far

Some images are displaying, but not all of them. I can't seem to find a pattern, or a reason as to why some are not displaying. If I can find anything or a hint I'll let you know.
  7. Honestly, I don't self identify as a prepper. It just common sense to me, and the way I was raised. I don't like to be inconvenienced or uncomfortable, so I just do things to prevent that from happening. I'm a preventer, I guess.
  8. I thought I'd mention some possible bugs I've seen so far. When accessing the fourm via mobile browser, it is very difficult to type. The keyboard tends to freeze up. I've never experienced this on any other forum. But that doesn't mean it's a server side issue, it may very well be on my side too. But I though I would mention it an see if anyone else had the same experience. So to remedy that problem I decided to give tapatalk a try again. Text entry has worked great so far, but images in posts are not displaying. Not complaining, just putting it out there to see if anyone else has experienced anything similar. Two minor potential glitches, but the forum is going great I think. Thanks for creating this space for us all to hang out together.

    Wishlist Wants

I've got plenty of knives that are true every day use working tools. Something like this would be a knife I could wear for special occasions, like with a tuxedo or ssomething. .. Lol

    Wishlist Wants

My wish list is ridiculously long, but if I only consider practical items, (which I don't do often enough), a hand well pump is near the top of the list. I've decided against getting another backup generator. But I have a private drilled well. So I need to add hand pump capabilities to my well. But I'll probably buy some custom made knives instead. ?
  13. I'm not qualified to speak for the forum owners, but I would assume gun discussions would be acceptable around here. I Don't edc a gun, but I have nothing against doing so.

    Packs

I wouldn't call it my favorite, but it's one I use. I have 3 bad discs in my back so hauling junk on my back can get painful pretty quickly. This is a pack frame that I have a ruck sack lashed to. I also have a Frost River Isle Royal Sr. if I need to haul a pile of stuff, or if I'm paddling. Which can also be attached to this same frame. With the external frame I can use the load lifters to transfer more weight to my hips, seems to really help the back problems. The ruck can be removed and the frame used for hauling other goodies, if needed.
  15. The handle is short, which I knew it would be when I ordered it, so I cobbled a quick lanyard onto it. My intent was a front pocket carry fixed blade with a pocket clip sheath. The blade is way thicker than a tiny knife needs to be, which I didn't think about while reading the specs. It's not a bad knife, and it's certainly not intimidating, which I didn't want as an EDC. But for my intended use I wouldn't buy another one, if I lost this one. Also, I didn't own any Bark River knives, and their shop is not really that far from me, so I felt I should at least try one.
