Self-Promotion: Got a blog or YouTube Channel? Tell us about it here!

Recommended Posts

So it looks to me we've got a number of Threaders with their own YouTube channels, blogs, and other websites running - in my opinion, these pages need some shameless plugs & self-promotion ;).

Please share your links with us here, as well as a little (or big!) blurb about the kinds of topics you talk about on your blog, site, and/or YouTube channel.

In case you weren't aware, you can syndicate your YouTube channel, blog, or website's full or partial RSS feed so that whenever you update your page, Threaders will be notified of the update in our Blogs section. This should hopefully get you some extra eyeballs to your content, especially if you're just starting out. Not sure how to do this? Visit here for instructions.

And I know it doesn't really need to be said, but if you've got a second, please try browsing through this thread and taking a look at some of these fine folks' pages! Maybe leave a comment saying where you found out about their page even ;).

Alright, 'nuff said, now get posting !

I'll blow my cover, a little. I don't have a blog or site, youtube channel, or even facebook or twitter accounts, and I frequently change names on the survival sites I do comment on. Big shock maybe, but Walter is not my real name either :)

But since you mentioned shameless plugs, here's 3 guest articles I submitted to ModernSurvivalOnline.com in the past few years that I'm kinda proud of.

My Youtube Channel: Phoenix Survival

Synopsis: an all around survival video channel. It started out basically as a primitive traps and snares how-to site now with over 30 videos on that subject. But over time it has evolved to include subjects like BOB's, first aid and trauma kits, personal vids, wild edibles, survival item uses, extended bugout items and scenarios, etc. I'm still learning and just recently got back into making videos again after an extended hiatus and will have new shtf and prepping vids added to the mix along with many different subjects.

One thing I will say about my videos' focus and theme. I stress survival not style. I'm not big on brands. Not to say that I don't own some nice stuff; I'm just saying I focus on knowledge and how-to, not pimping my outrageously expensive titanium toothpick. Quality is one thing, but name dropping is altogether a different thing in my mind. If someone is doing a review that is one thing and a necessity, but to do a lengthy BOB video just so one can name off all the cool expensive shit they own just seems pompous and contentious to me. Reminds me of keeping up with the Jones' or showing off your Nikes to the poor kids in high school. Branding is one thing, but you won't see me doing it with my nose in the air on my site. That's just me. Plus prepping is expensive enough as it is.

So drop on by, leave a comment or ask a question, and make yourself at home.

Thanks Elise.

I always thought it was a shame you "semi-closed" your site. Honestly loved your posts.

Hi all! What a great site. I look forward to sharing here and gaining knowledge as even though I'm getting up there in years your never too old to learn! I am an off gridder in remote Alaska. I do blog-but not very good at technology. Maybe someone here can teach me how to do more. If your interested in what life in remote Alaska is like for a 3 generation family please check it out at www.offgridalaska.org

also I write articles for magazines and write concepts for tv networks-you know the types of shows that are reality but not really. Lots of time for the mind to be creative when there's nothing to crowd it like tv and radio. Have an idea for one let me know!

Thanks for letting me be a part of this and I look forward to sharing with y'all.

@Offgridmom I'd love to compare notes on sawmills. Did 50,000 ( apx. ) board feet on a mill that was probably an inferior knock off of the one you use. I think we'd done less then 2,000 when I pulled the blade guides and made my own, that alone doubled the blade life and made much flatter cuts. I was never happy with the dogging system, think it actually injured my partner through repetitive impacts, pounding the things into place.  It would be interesting to see how someone else designed one. I'd bet a proper design would save money in blades by not going as cheap on the pulleys, tensioning and guides.

I have a couple. I've been working with the wild edibles scene for a few years with http://WildUtahEdibles.com and just launched #Vipersharp on Kickstarter (http://vipersharp.com) for my guided knife sharpener I created. I know there are many out there but I feel that I created something unique that adds to the market and improves upon so many issues that existed. that was my goal and it's made in the USA and if nothing else it will do what the best do at a lower price for the complete system! I"ll have more Youtube videos coming for the ViperSharp channel to review knives as well as feature the details of teh ViperSharp. Enjoy! https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCchl3Mc7W7nEcglBa1lwXXw

In the Years Since then, Hillbillybonez Has grown into what it is today, We offer folks a glimpse into the Mountains, Our adventures and offer some great low cost gear made right here in West Virginia.

I didn't come here to plug my blog, but since you asked nicely I'm Salty from Beans, Bullets, Bandages & You.

We believe in inclusiveness, we don't do politics in any way, shape or form (except we are Pro-2nd), and we want all people, no matter political points of view, race, sexual lifestyle, you-name-it, to be more prepared.

We are also 100 percent ad free (not counting our "click here to see our other stories" ads like the one right below this). we do it as a project, not a money-maker. We don't even spam you with an annoying "sign up for our newsletter" pop-up every time you visit. So.. there that...
