To those who believe Martial Law could “never happen,” I suggest you take a good look at what is unfolding almost daily
“You may not be interested in war, but war is interested in you.”
Imagine what happened in Orlando happend in several cities at once… and you think Martial Law could “never happen?” Wake up America!

Hey Prepper Rob:

Things are a little nuts now eh?

Actually there are fewer regional wars than in centuries and 'terrorist activity' is a fraction of what it was in Europe in the 70's and 80's and in the USA between 2005 and 2015 there were 24 Deaths attributed to "Terrorists."

In the same period there were 301000 Deaths attributed to guns in the USA. In fact, more people were killed between 2005 and 2015 yearly by toddlers with guns than by terrorists in the USA.

That means you have an over 12000 times chance of getting shot by a non terrorist in USA.

If someone is preaching Fear and Hate and Insecurity, i would suggest they are blowing it all up to place themselves as the 'Protecting Savior' for pursuit of power and not the truth. These numbers are FBI numbers and are good imho.

Sometimes Martial Law is about what the "Martial" wants and not what is needed in fact.

The sky is not falling in. In fact Crime statistics have been dropping in the USA.

FBI and U.S. Department of Justice reports, the rates of violent crime in the U.S. are now at their lowest level in 40 years. Violent crime rates in 2010 were 1/3 the rates of 1994.

Sometimes leaders have to look at what is factual and real and STFU. They are frightening the children..

cheers

I agree with @Dan Seven , the world has always been a mess. That's why I mind my business and focus on my own "unit" for my own future.

I doubt we will ever have true peace or stability, sadly.

if they ever try to impose such on the US, nationwide, for more than a week, it will be the end of the US as a nation. Foreign investors would stop buying our short term bonds, which is all it would take to collapse our credit/economy. So, no, it's not going to happen, other than a short term, local thing, which you can just walk/bicycle out of

Maybe your looking at martial law as something that will happen in one fell swoop.  It doesn't have to happen that way. It can be brought on gradually. one small step at a time. The progression of a free people to a police state. Imposing martial law can be done all at once or gradually.

the effect on foreign investors would be the same. They will bail out of our bonds, and the $100 bill will be TP. now, if you were a cop or soldier, would YOU work for free, knowing that your family was a deadly risk, chaos all around you?  It will be every man for himself at that point. Our oppressors know this, or it would already have been imposed upon us, count on it.

Good comments.  I'm observing a "chip, chip, chip" away from good on all fronts.  As there are more people crowded into cities than ever, it won't take a WWIII to push us over the "edge."  If Greece fails, if Duetsche Bank fails, if the US debt causes the dollar to fail, is f we have a major stock market correction.....

Chip, chip, avalanche!

Obama, Feinstein and such tried this by banning guns but thanks to The Constitutionalists, Activists and Patriots, whom fought for our rights, it didn't happen. Thanks to GOA, NRA and Human Rights Advocates as well. Not saying it can't still happen, but like my post in another thread, I hope it doesn't occur for three to 5 years, as time is our best defense and ally.

There is a huge argument that your Guns should be taken away in the USA.

You are the number one in the World in Gun Crime.

China doesn't allow their people to have them except with an extremely rare hunting permit..and they are ranked 97th down the list in gun crime, have the death penalty for possession yet they have 3 times more people than the USA.

Basically, the argument is that America has proven it can't handle gun ownership. I am sure many would argue with that and try to convince everyone that is not true, as any addict would using something that is destroying themselves and others in the process. America is addicted to guns, and is destroying itself with Guns more than anywhere else in the world.

After folks going on and on here about how dangerous it is in the USA, how about a little War on Guns ?

They can fund it off taxes from legalizing pot smoking. Allow a 12 month amnesty to turn in all handguns.

They pay You market value -20% for it if You turn it in. After that they offer You 500 dollar reward for information leading to an arrest for possession of a handgun, with a 3 year minimum sentence. That is when You learn who your friends really are.

In the State of New York for instance there are 900 million dollars worth of handguns in private hands. If the State of New York legalizes weed, they will realize over 400 million in taxes per year.

As You can see..they could buy those guns back in a little over 2 years of profits..and auction them to collectors in other more responsible countries to offer the 500 dollar rewards.

After 3 years they go after all semi automatic rifles. Again, in the State of New York, about 1.2 billion dollars worth of semi automatic rifles are in private hands. 3 years worth of weed tax profits to fund this. Does not cost taxpayers any money, and the drop in gun crimes will be so dramatic Charlton Heston will turn over in his grave.

After that they decide that no guns are allowed in cities and ownership only to hunters with a recent (say within 5 years) hunting permit, with gun storage in a federal facility outside of cities.

The hunting rifle is then collected, used within duration of the hunting permit and then returned before it is expired. If it is not returned, Passport and Driver's License and Credit cards are cancelled and a warrant for arrest is issued.

All thanks to marijuana.

"Dan you are crazy once Gov't get's that tax money they won't do that with it, they will pay themselves" Maybe. But if the State of New York legalizes weed they will save themselves 520 million dollars in enforcement prosecution and incarceration costs for marijuana crimes which they will gladly turn over to prosecuting gun crimes to keep their cops on the beat. So that is even more money than what they would get from weed taxes.

When gun crime drops down to somewhere near China's level..maybe then more hunting permits can be allowed. By then it will have dawned on American's that they did not have a God-given Right to have a gun. The Government allowed them, then they changed their Mind..to save you from yourselves, and they were right, as the numbers will surely show..

Until then You won't have to worry about "defending yourselves" from gun armed attackers

Until then Y'all can rent them at the range..

Thanks to some people...the rest of Us will never hear the end of it even when they haven't taken them away.

Here is a chart to show Americans what they are doing to themselves with Guns, and why Politicians think You don't deserve to have guns anymore.

On and on and on about the "Threats" but don't dare try to take away the "Problem". Many of Americas leaders are certain folks there have gone 'full retard' with their guns and the numbers bear this out. Responsible Gun owners will be the ones to suffer when an inevitable correction has to be made for not keeping them out of the hands of the morally challenged.

America will be shocked that hardly anyone get's shot anymore when there aren't any guns.

If they are sane, they might even think that is a good thing.

No. Listen to what you just said, Dan. You are advocating for a communist country and Martial Law being enacted to seize Arms by Force. History shows communism, fascism and socialism do not work and only open the door to heinious acts like Starvation, oppression, Genocide, etc. Lenin. Stalin. Mao. Hitler. Putin. The Holocaust. The Holodomor. Do you really want such chaos, strife and crimes against Humanity to reoccur? If you truly believe that, then you are part of the problem. Letting a wide spread police state occur will only give birth to The USSA. United Socialist States of America. Look in depth, there are A lot more political parties than just the Green party, independent, Republicans and Democrats. Furthermore, it would not end with just a firearm seize, if the sensitized idiots won, it would extend to every Arm ever made. Maybe watch Revolution and see if that's the life you want. It's a fact that court appointed attorneys are overwhelmed and underpaid. You take away the 2nd amendment, you violated Article 3 of Human Rights and You will be overwhelmed and unable to handle the huge number of people needing help. Criminals, punks find a way. If our ability to defend ourselves is no more, then Marauders and criminals will be the ones armed and able to easily harm us. Evil finds a way.

First of All. If You read my post..i am not advocating for anything. I am just telling You what your government leaders  are already thinking about making into law if the gun war does not stop in your Country, and what that might look like.

Secondly. I am not talking about Politics in my post.

The Forum Rules are very specific, No Politics, No Religion. Don't drag them in here.

Your Second Amendment was not intended as a license to murder each other nor as a blanket approval for weapons with a destructive capacity that at that time were not even dreamed of over 200 years ago.

If You want to take those words seriously, and for the time they were written in 1791 then the law should only allow You a musket.

Except it can't, because the common ball size of that time was a .70 caliber and anything over .50 is outlawed in the USA so in fact You would get nothing.

Don't try to bind me to what the writers of the 2nd Amendment were blind to just to advance your agenda.

In the 20 years of the Vietnam War America lost over 58000 service personnel.

In the last 20 years over 174000 people died in America in gun deaths.

Basically 3 times more body count than Vietnam. Is that not a full blown gun war ?

Your leaders are going to end this, it is just a matter of time, and it has NOTHING to do with Politics or Religion. It is about ending a war 3 times more costly than Vietnam.

It is my belief that the people who wrote the Second Amendment would not have written it had they foreseen this..a full blown travesty of the intention and spirit of their Amendment.

In 1790 the entire population of the USA was 3924000 people. Do You think by your reckoning that if they lost 174000 people in 20 years they would have noticed that ? The top 11 Cities had a combined population of 152000. You really think they envisioned the genocide of the 11 largest cities in the USA at that time when they wrote that Amendment? I don't think so..

Even now , would You notice something missing if Chattanooga,Tennessee or Oceanside, California or Jackson,Mississippi or Fort Lauderdale,Florida just went missing ?

America will deal with this how She sees fit, and even if You think nothing should happen I have shown You that it is completely out of control and it very well will be brought under control.

Knowing that and saying that does not make me an advocate for firearm seizures.

You know very well something has to happen. There are now so many guns in the hands of criminals and the mentally deranged, and they are so easy to get that it appears that only workable solution is to throw a net over the whole damn thing, pull it all in and start over again. That is exactly what i described and one way how they may likely do that.

Wrong. The second states the Right to keep and bear Arms. It says nothing about muskets or firearms. You really want to talk about law and such? Look at Atf form 4473 or 44. It already prohibits the sale and transfer to mentally ill, felons, those dishonorably discharged, those found guilty of domestic violence, etc. Under federal law, straw purchases are illegal. New York has the SAFE Act, which makes Assault Rifles and lookalikes illegal. Course, that was forced down their throats and could easily violate title 18 USC 241, Conspiracy Against Rights if it's filed in class action. It also applies in IL, Chicago where co2 guns and replicas are illegal to ship, where batons are illegal, where tasers, co2 guns over or at 700 fps and even antique firearms are considered firearms and require a FOID card. Tasers are illegal an

d so are knives over three inches.  Furthermore, there are specific laws to follow to legally own and possess SBRs, SBSs, AOWs, explosives and Destructive Devices. A big bore musket is not a DD. A DD would be a militarized tank, PTRS, boys, bazookas, rpgs, street sweeper, etc. The problems lies with evil intent, not with inanimate objects. Now, a car or truck is or can be a 2500 lb to 10 ten deadly weapon. Should we ban that too? As I said before, I don't scare easily, if at all. I was victim of a hit and run may 12th. I don't hold it against all motorists, just that asshole. It's the same with Open Carriers, licensed concealed carriers, etc. You seem focused on the wrongdoers and mental. Lastly, you are right the Second is not a license to kill but wrong about what the forefathers envisioned. The original Gatling gun, the puckle gun, even the 4th century repeating crossbow. Judge not by what one carries or wears, but by their actions.

If You are confident the laws in play are strong enough and doing their job and solving the problem then what dispute to You have with what i am seeing in where they are going ? Fact is You know it is out of control, but are only willing to say it is out of control for the sake of arguing for MORE guns.

Like this statement that You made.

A gun fired in anger and one used in defense are completely different. One is a crime, the other is justified. I think Dan needs to visit Chicago, NYC, Manhattan, The Bronx, LA or New Jersey, which are all conflict zones and see the reality that one cannot easily escape a threat or conflict.

You really think the authorities are going to sit down and interview everybody and go through 'extreme vetting' and psychological assessment to figure out if you are responsible enough to know whether You will use it only in defense and not just off somebody that scares You? You think that they are interested in determining "justifiable gun deaths"  when they have already lost control over the use of guns ? There are over 134 million people in the USA with handguns, You really think they have the resources or administrative capacity to make a proper determination as to who should have them. What stops them from being stolen by criminals ?

The US Gov't will fund a War on Guns before developing a multi trillion dollar umbrella program to protect the rights of gun owners to separate the guns from the 'unworthy'. There is no political will for this and too many gun people talking in absolutes that don't apply to real life. All or Nothing. They ban handguns, there will be no appeals, and endless bullshit, because it will be a matter of Vital Domestic Security.

Once the 2nd Amendment people lose their appeals (you will still get long guns at that point), the stats from the hand gun ban will prove that what they have been saying all along and then they will ban black guns to 'get another big win'.

You are right, one cannot easily escape a threat or conflict in some places. You see it as a reason to buy a handgun.

They see it as a reason to ban handguns. And they are right. I have not given You the projected stats in the drops in gun crime from the banning of handguns. They are very accurate within 2 to 3%. I figure You have heard enough from me for one day.

Your Gov't believes that America is safer when fewer people are being shot and the easiest way to do it is to take away the handguns, because gun people refuse to believe this is true leaving them no choice. Gun folks refuse to regiment themselves to properly regulate gun use and ownership. So Uncle Sam will.

Anyways..the Gatling Gun was not invented till 1861..60 years after the 2nd Amendment was signed, so no it did not exist. Also, the first repeating rifle, the lever action Henry came out only a year before that in 1860. Check your facts.

so NO they did not see this coming..

I said the original, the puckle gun. Again, Arms are not the issue. The US has so many problems and guns owned by open carriers and such are not it. This is going to be long and I will add to thispati me

thisweek. Lack the patience to attempt typing such  a long post on such a small keyboard and it's. vexing, as I have already made mistakes. Continue Friday or so.

You are correct. Guns are not the Problem..it is what Folks are doing with them in America that is the problem.

What I am saying is that when it is not possible to fix the people problem anymore, they have no choice but to take the guns. It is out of control and they will reign it in..they have no choice.

It won't be easy medicine to take.

Dan, take a guess which cities have the highest murder rate, after that, tell me which ones have the most gun control laws.

Inanimate objects do not cause crime. They never have, never will.

Take the guns? You can't be serious. Who would go around doing that, you? You won't make it past a few doors before you ran into someone who isn't going to get pushed around so easy

Totally Agree @zackmars. In my way of thinking it means they have tried and lost control.

Exactly why i went through the effort of describing what they are talking about to get it back.

In Japan, when they declared a firearms prohibition back in 1958, it took awhile to get results.

Japan has a third the population of the USA..some 121 million people. In 2008 there were 11 firearm related homicides compared to 12000 in the US. In 2006 there were 2 in Japan, again 12000 plus in the US.

I would say they have it under control.

Entirely different culture. Firearms really don't matter.

Again, cities with strict gun control are some of the most violent places in the US. You strip those cities away, and the firearms homicide rate drops drastically.

Is there any particular reason you single out fiream deaths? What about vehicular manslaughter? Knifes? Bats? Hammers? If someone mows me down with their chevy, am i somehow less dead vs someone who got shot?

Guns are vilified by the ignorant, and by those who hold ill intentions, and for whatever reason you like to parrot the nonsense.

If saving lives was what was really at stake, why have i not had people get in my face, telling me i shouldn't have a car?

Because it's not about saving a life, it's about control, under the guise of saving a life.

Thats why "they" spend their time vilifying weapons that are hardly ever used in crimes. Thats why chicago, which had almost 1000 shootings last year, was never mentioned by US news

Interesting.  We are talking martial law.  Gun control?

I think we will be in martial law someday in America.  Not because the increase in concealed carry has recuced crime in general.  Not because the highest gun related crime is in big cities/areas where gang law rules the streets.  Is that because of guns or morals and decadence? There will be martial law because the powers that really rule wants Martial law.  We are falling towards it faster every day.  The masses are going to cry for "Peace and safety and food!"

I'll take my chances in Texas, Thank you.

Gun control is a topic thats been in fashion here recently.

Martial law is not some singular idea, as in, whoever "declares" it is able to pick and choose whichever rights they want.

Firearms are almost guaranteed to be restricted, especially since freedom of speech/press, freedom of assembly (among others) tend to be restricted.

Nobody said martial law will be declared because of a downward trend in crime due to increase in concealed carry. That makes absolutely no sense whatsoever. The topic just happened to creep to gun control

I am not sure they will implement martial law the way most people think. More like eating a elephant, one small bite at a time. Whether you have a gun won't matter. All they need to do is inhibit freedom, one little change at a time. Restrict and change what you see as rights to be more of a privilege really. Require licences and registration for just about everything. That's what licencing really is, permission to perform an act that is unlawful. Stop handing out licences and pooie everyone who performs that deed without a licence is a criminal. Most people want to be law abiding citizens. Most people will probably comply even if not at first but over time if there is enough stigma attached or the consequences of getting caught are severe enough and enforced enough.

Zackmars, you misunderstood me.  It won't be because of those things.  I believe it will be manufactured....for ulterior motives.  Japan didn't want to invade America because of the number of patriots with guns.  Same reason we didn't want to invade Japan (at the time).

It is safer in New York City than Mosul or Kabul.  Not so, Chicago?  It has strict gun control laws, There are so many guns in the world that gun control is not possible.  Bad people will fnd a way.  $$. Or, use a knife to stab a policeman or innocent in the neck...

Our world is spinning out of control.  The powers will use Martial Law to subdue.

PS. Sent you an email on here.  Not sure if it went to you.  It disappeared, LOL.

didn't get any email or pm, sorry.

the way you said it made it seem as if someone said that people carrying would be a cause, sorry if i misread, but that didn't seem too clear to me.

Japan didn't really care about civilian weapons, the popular "behind every blade of grass" comment is fiction, and a country that is willing to strap pilots to suicide rocket bombs probably isn't too concerned with a bunch of hunters and plinkers. in any case, they couldn't launch a ground attack on the CONUS and support it. if anything dissuaded them on a conventional ground attack on the mainland US, it was that.

we were more concerned with the Japanese fanaticism, not something i have the attention span to get into, but its an interesting topic to look into.

in closing, i would also add that gun control isn't a singular concept, it could be as "loose" as the current US federal regulations, or as strict as it is in the UK or AUS. so, yeah, it is possible. will it work? depends on your definition of "work"...

OK.  Next time, I'll try to be clearer and not sarcastic.

Japan was preparing to arm civilans.  Germany conscripted old men and children.  America, then, had mostly population of "country" people.  Hunt, fish, wrestle.  Tougher.  Not dependent. Physical work.  Shooters to eat. Japan did not want to invade due to our armed population and militia or volunteer spirit.  History.

Now, the situation is reversed.  Most population is concentrated in cities.  Less outside lifestyle. More tech or service.  Every year, I see less kids in sports and "softer" from electronic lifestyle, in general.  There are still ranch kids.

This makes it easier for martial law to be enforced, in theory.
